Action Leads to Motivation

In early recovery, many people have a hard time doing ANYTHING!  Motivation is a huge hurdle.. getting up, taking a shower, eating, and getting out of the house are monumental tasks.. that should be seen as an achievement each day.
Action Leads to Motivation!  Imagine that!  For years, I’ve had it backwards!   Always waiting for mehtivation to inspire me, to drive me off the couch and do something, anything.
Action leads to Motivation.. repeat that constantly.. replaces my urge mantra!
Action breeds confidence. Confidence breeds success. Success breed contentment & it is contentment in life which matters most. Inaction breeds fear, worry & despair. Don’t limit yourself by your fear & inaction, Let us make action the mantra of your life. In the process you need not tell people about yourself.
So what helps motivate me?  Some ideas include:
Write a list… wake up, brush my teeth, make coffee, get up (yes again)
Goals:  write goals and then make a plan to achieve those goals…
  • Make goals SMART:  specific, measurable, assignable, realistic and time based.
  • break large goals into a series of tasks (HOW do you eat an elephant?  One bite at time.. duh)

Positive Affirmations:  stop the toxic self talk!  Use positive terms, write them down, and repeat throughout the day
